Aquatic Programs

Lifeguard Training:
Includes life guarding skills, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First Aid. The purpose of this course is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent  and respond to aquatic emergencies. Candidates must be at least 15 years old and pass a skills test in swimming and diving on the first class meeting.

Title 22: First Aid for Public Safety Personnel
An Advanced First Aid course required by the state of California for all first responder personnel, including lifeguards, firefighters, and police officers. Skills include caring for injuries, sudden illness and childbirth.

Water Safety Instructor:
Students will learn how to teach all levels in the American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" program. Emphasis is on methods for teaching swim lessons, physical principles of body movement in the water and stroke analysis. Candidates must be 17 years of age and pass a written pre-test and swimming pre-test (proficient demonstration of Red Cross Community Water Safety and Learn to Swim Level VI Skills).
