The American Red Cross has nearly 40 chapters located throughout New England. Each of these
chapters provides:
- aid to victims of fire
- disaster services
- first-aid, CPR & water safety instruction
- service to military families
- HIV-AIDS education
- health care training
- international social services
- and more
- The American Red Cross is one of the top ranked non-profit organizations by
watchdog groups in the United States. More than 91% of funds donated to the Red
Cross go directly to services for the community.
- The American Red Cross is the largest volunteer-led organization in the United States.
- Red Cross volunteers respond on average to seven single-family fires each day in New England.
- The American Red Cross trained approximately 200,000 New Englanders in CPR, first aid and water safety last year.
- The American Red Cross is part of a worldwide network providing military families
with 24-hour emergency communication and financial assistance in the event of a
family emergency, birth, serious illness or death.
- The American Red Cross is a non-profit organization. The blood program is
supported through fees hospitals pay for products and services, collection, processing
and testing of blood. All other chapter services are supported through community
donations and allocated funds from the United Way.
